TITLE – CHANGING LAND AND URBAN SPACE

One of the most threatening environmental issue of Kolkata and its suburb is the acquiring and filling of Kolkata’s wetlands to accommodate huge disposable income and migrants coming from within and outside the country ….. this should be treated as one of the most important socio-political and environmental issue of Kolkata as well as of contemporary world …..

This project has been continuing from November 2014 since the time of filling of the particular wetland (bheri ) has just started ….

From then regular site visit and documentation has been done by Rajib bhattacharjee and abeshbivoremitra ……. For the last one year we have been engaged in photo documentation , videography , interview , site specific water colour , land casting , collection of land and nature samples and making artworks out of local natural materials …….…..

Within this period probirguha eminent theatre personality of India and also a resident from this area joined this project

Suresh kundu an eminent environmental activist from this area is also working in this project …..

We are planning a discussion session on this subject before the final presentation of the total outcome of this project … Local intellectuals , environmental activists and creative personalities would be invited to join this discussion ………

Event dates

On 10-11-2014 travel within the area of the project site ( abeshbivoremitra and rajib bhattacharjee )

On 26-12-2014 first on site nature art workshop and photography( abesh bivore mitra and rajib bhattacharjee )

On 2-1-2015 photography throughout the area ( abesh bivore mitra and rajib bhattacharjee )

Throughout 2015 many workshop , discussion and works generated out of this project …..

On 31-10-2015 photographic documentation of the change of landscape and interview of local people by ( Rajib bhattacharjee , abesh bivore mitra and prabir guha ) ……..

Prabir guha ,abesh bivore mitra , suresh kundu and Rajib bhattacharjee are engaged working on the final presentation scheduled around January 2016 ………
